At the Forbes Money Summit 2024, I had the chance to meet a woman who deeply impressed me: Billi Bierling – journalist, high-altitude mountaineer, and head of the world-renowned Himalayan Database. I was also moved by how Billi spoke about her role as a woman in high-altitude mountaineering – a field still largely dominated by men. We both laughed when we realized how much we have in common, even though our paths seem so different at first glance: we both know what it means to swim against the current. And we do it anyway – or perhaps because of it.
